INTERVIEW

You’ve collaborated with Diss Master Records before. How did this partnership influence the direction of the new track, and what’s it like working with them.
Working with Deon is great. We have made tracks before so knowing him well I know what he is into so I just do my own thing. To be honest I don't really know how the music will end up when I start. I have a rough idea but so much is random. What I really like is the music is released fast. No waiting a year and losing interest. Its very exciting.

Living in England, how has the local music scene influenced your work? Are there any particular events or venues that have played a significant role in shaping your sound?
The thing that really sticks with me is the early rave scene. Some amazing parties. My favourite venue would of been Sterns in Worthing. It was an old mansion with multiple dance floors, sweat dripping from the ceiling. Amazing vibe, saw the Prodigy there just after Charlie came out. I love those rolling breakbeats.

Looking ahead, how do you see your music evolving, and are there any aspects of English culture or your experiences living there that you’re excited to explore in your future work?

I see my music getting heavier, more minimal and darker. I have a lot of tunes with a gothic vibe so I am really excited to be making a new live set. Also excited to be doing tracks with Deon. "Fuck Them All" killed the dance floor back in the day.

Tell us what's behind "Scan Here To Enter"?

Was sitting behind the computer having a beer and saw a QR code on the tin. Scan here to enter. Reminded me of the scamdemic. I had the vocal line stuck in my head and that got me laughing. It's a good NRS title. I synthesised the vocals and thought this is a great hook. Track took a while to finish. There are a lot of parts and fitting them together in a satisfactory way was a puzzle. I sent it off to Scorb for approval and here we are. Another track finished.

What have you been doing since pot mode jumper?

Apart from Scan here I have been doing a remix of shake them bones from the one and only Damage. Abandoned the first two attempts and now its really banging. Very happy with this. I think its a big step forward in production and has got the old rave vibe. Working on a lot of new tracks too and trying to decide what to finish next. Also started some collaborations with Deon.

What are your current inspirations?

Right now I am very inspired by cinematic choirs and horror music. The darker the better. I can see a lot of new tracks along this line. I love the contrast of electronic beats and the darkness in the breakdowns. I try and write these parts from what I hear in my head but it never comes out the same. Synthetic vocals are really interesting too. I love playing about with them and learning more about sound design.

What do you do to unwind and recharge?

I like to go out drinking and enjoy a good BBQ. Making music, starting new tracks. I have been watching a lot of scifi recently and rewatching some old classics.
